CNA Program Overview

Scott School of Careers delivers a comprehensive state-approved Certified Nursing Assistant program that combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on clinical experience. The curriculum spans 120 hours, including 80 hours of foundational theory and 40 hours of supervised clinical rotations. Students can choose between traditional in-person instruction or a flexible online learning format.

Admission Requirements

Basic Eligibility

  • Minimum age: 16 years
  • Valid social security card
  • English language proficiency (speaking, reading, and writing)
  • Clean criminal background check (no federal offenses or felony convictions)

Educational Prerequisites

  • High school diploma/GED OR
  • Minimum 8th-grade level performance on standardized entrance exams:
    • Mathematics assessment
    • Reading comprehension evaluation

Health Documentation

Students must provide:

  • Comprehensive physical examination records
  • Medical clearance for CNA duties without restrictions
  • Documentation of lifting capability
  • Negative TB screening through either:
    • TB skin test
    • Quantiferon Gold Blood test
    • Chest x-ray (within past year)
  • Licensed healthcare provider verification (MD or NP signature/stamp)

Distance Learning Requirements

Online students must additionally meet:

  • Minimum 76% score on both math and reading entrance assessments
  • Technology requirements:
    • Working desktop or laptop computer
    • Reliable broadband internet (5Mbps minimum)
    • Compatible software systems
